Secondary Clarification
Secondary clarifiers separate biological solids (mixed liquor suspended solids) from treated effluent following biological treatment. Conventional secondary clarifiers require large surface areas due to the need for a clear settling zone and sludge thickening zone.
Plate settlers can be applied to secondary clarification to increase the settling capacity of existing secondary clarifiers or to provide compact new-build secondary clarification. This is especially effective for applications with well-settling activated sludge or MBBR biofilm solids.
Secondary plate settler clarification is an excellent option for WWTP capacity upgrades where the secondary clarifier is the bottleneck.
