A plate settler clarifies cooling-tower makeup water and can serve as a side-stream clarifier on the recirculating loop, continuously removing solids to keep the system clean. With coagulation, it also removes fine and colloidal material.

The result is improved heat-transfer efficiency, reduced blowdown, and lower chemical and maintenance costs.
