Plate Replacement

Plate pack renewal

Stainless steel plate packs are long-lived, but damaged, deformed or heavily fouled plates should be replaced to restore full settling area and effluent quality.

Plate Replacement

R+F plate packs are built from stainless steel (SS 304 or 316L) and are designed for decades of service. Replacement is rarely driven by material failure — it is usually needed after mechanical damage, deformation from an upset, or fouling that cannot be removed by cleaning.

Because settling capacity is directly proportional to projected plate area, missing, bent or displaced plates reduce performance measurably. If cleaning no longer restores effluent quality, or if plates are visibly deformed, replacement is the correct remedy.

R+F supplies replacement plate packs matched to the original geometry — plate spacing, angle and dimensions — so the unit returns to its original design surface loading rate. Modular pack construction means individual sections can often be swapped without removing the entire assembly.

Replacement is a mechanical operation: isolate and drain the unit, remove the affected pack section, install the new pack ensuring correct seating and spacing, then return to service and verify flow distribution and effluent quality.

Replacement Procedure

1

Confirm replacement is needed

Rule out cleaning first. Replace only when plates are damaged, deformed or permanently fouled.

2

Isolate and drain

Take the unit offline, isolate feed and withdrawal, and drain to safe access level.

3

Remove old pack

Extract the affected plate pack section. Inspect the support frame and hopper while access is open.

4

Install new pack

Fit the matched replacement pack, confirming correct angle, spacing and seating.

5

Return to service

Refill, restore flow and verify even distribution and effluent quality.
