Plate Pack Cleaning

Restoring the Settling Surface

Periodic plate pack cleaning removes accumulated sludge, biofilm and scale so the plates regain their full settling area and self-cleaning behaviour.

Plate Pack Cleaning

The right cleaning method depends on the deposit: soft sludge responds to low-pressure washing, biofilm to alkaline cleaning, and mineral scale to acid cleaning.

Design features that ease cleaning — removable or hinged packs, adequate freeboard, smooth stainless surfaces — make the difference between a quick clean and a recurring problem.

Clean before deposits harden; aged deposits are far harder to remove and can permanently reduce performance.

Procedure

1

Isolate & Drain

Take the unit offline and drain to expose the pack.

2

Low-Pressure Wash

Remove soft sludge with a low-pressure water jet.

3

Chemical Clean

Alkaline for organics/biofilm, acid for scale, as required.

4

Rinse Thoroughly

Rinse to remove loosened deposits and cleaning agents.

5

Inspect & Return

Check plates for damage, then return to service.
