Lamella Replacement

Lamella pack renewal

Replacing worn or damaged lamella plates restores the effective settling area of a clarifier and returns effluent quality to design performance.

Lamella Replacement

Lamella plates provide the inclined settling surfaces that give a lamella clarifier its compact footprint. Over a long service life they may suffer mechanical damage, deformation or irreversible fouling that cleaning cannot correct.

When effective settling area is reduced — by displaced, bent or missing plates — the clarifier can no longer handle its design flow at the target surface loading rate, and effluent quality falls. Replacing the affected lamella plates is the direct fix.

R+F supplies stainless steel lamella packs matched to the original geometry so the clarifier returns to its rated capacity. For older or third-party units, R+F can assess the existing geometry and supply a compatible replacement pack as part of a retrofit.

The procedure mirrors plate pack replacement: isolate and drain the unit, remove the affected lamella section, install the matched replacement, and verify flow distribution and effluent quality on return to service.

Replacement Procedure

1

Assess the pack

Identify damaged, deformed or fouled lamella plates and confirm replacement over cleaning.

2

Isolate and drain

Take the clarifier offline, isolate flows and drain for safe access.

3

Remove and inspect

Extract the affected lamella section and inspect the frame, feed and hopper.

4

Install matched pack

Fit the replacement lamella pack with correct angle and spacing.

5

Commission

Refill, restore flow, and confirm even distribution and target effluent quality.
