Phosphate Removal

Chemical Phosphate Precipitation and Clarification

Plate settlers clarify chemically precipitated phosphate flocs to achieve low total phosphorus, meeting stringent nutrient discharge limits.

Phosphate Removal

Phosphate discharge drives eutrophication in receiving waters, and permits increasingly require total phosphorus below 1 mg/L — sometimes below 0.1 mg/L. Chemical precipitation with metal salts converts dissolved phosphate into settleable flocs.

Plate settlers provide the high-efficiency clarification step needed to capture these fine metal-phosphate flocs. The large inclined settling area removes precipitated phosphate at high throughput while keeping the system compact.

For the lowest phosphorus targets, a plate settler stage is often followed by tertiary filtration — with the settler removing the bulk of the precipitate to keep filters running efficiently.

Key Benefits

Low Total P

Supports total phosphorus targets below 1 mg/L with correct dosing.

Fine Floc Capture

Efficiently settles light metal-phosphate flocs.

Filter-Ready

Ideal ahead of tertiary filtration for ultra-low phosphorus.
