Lamella Clarifier Calculation

A lamella clarifier calculation uses the same core relationships as any inclined plate settler: required projected area from A = Q / SLR, then plate count from the projected area of each lamella.

The pack dimensions follow from the plate count, plate size and spacing. These, in turn, set the vessel footprint and the position of the inlet, overflow weirs and sludge hopper.

A complete calculation cross-checks the sludge mass loading against hopper capacity and desludge frequency so the sludge blanket stays clear of the lamellae.
