The Challenge
An existing settling tank was hydraulically overloaded and could no longer meet effluent TSS at peak flow. Replacing the tank was not practical within budget or timescale.
The operator wanted to reuse the existing civil structure while significantly increasing effective settling area.
The R+F Solution
R+F designed stainless steel lamella packs matched to the tank geometry and installed them within the existing basin. The inclined plates multiplied the effective settling area many times over.
Feed distribution and overflow collection were adapted to suit the retrofitted packs, ensuring even flow across the new settling area.
