RO Pretreatment

Clarification Ahead of Reverse Osmosis

Plate settler clarification reduces the silt density index and fouling potential of RO feed water, protecting membranes and improving recovery.

RO Pretreatment

Reverse osmosis membranes require feed water with very low suspended solids and silt density index (SDI). Particulate and colloidal fouling causes flux decline, higher pressures, and shortened membrane life.

A plate settler stage — combined with coagulation where needed — removes suspended and colloidal solids before RO, lowering SDI and stabilizing feed quality. This is especially valuable for reuse and challenging surface-water sources.

Reliable RO pretreatment reduces cleaning-in-place frequency, protects recovery rates, and lowers the overall cost of producing high-quality permeate.

Key Benefits

Lower SDI

Reduces silt density index and colloidal fouling potential.

Protects Recovery

Stabilizes flux and supports target recovery rates.

Fewer CIPs

Reduces membrane cleaning frequency and downtime.
