Municipal WWTP Capacity Upgrade
More capacity in the same footprint
A municipal treatment plant needed additional clarification capacity to meet population growth — without land for new tanks.

The Challenge
The existing plant was hydraulically limited by its conventional clarifiers. Population growth had pushed peak flows beyond the point where the clarifiers could reliably meet the effluent TSS consent.
There was no available land for additional conventional settling tanks, and a full civil expansion would have been slow and costly. The operator needed additional settling area within the existing plant boundary.
The R+F Solution
R+F supplied modular stainless steel plate settlers providing a large projected settling area in a fraction of the footprint of conventional tanks. Inclined plates at 55–60° multiply the effective settling area per unit of floor space.
Part of the added capacity came from retrofitting lamella packs into an existing tank; the remainder from new PSM modules installed alongside. The upgrade was phased to keep the plant in service throughout.
