Metal finishing operations (electroplating, anodizing, etching, phosphating) generate wastewater containing dissolved heavy metals, acids, alkalis, and suspended solids. Discharge limits for metals like chromium, nickel, zinc, and copper are extremely stringent.

The standard treatment approach is chemical precipitation (pH adjustment, metal hydroxide formation) followed by clarification. Plate settlers are ideal for this application because the metal hydroxide precipitates form dense, fast-settling floc that is efficiently captured by inclined plates.

R+F plate settler systems for metal finishing include integrated chemical dosing (NaOH, polymers), pH control, and sludge dewatering preparation. Stainless steel 316L construction ensures resistance to residual acid and alkali exposure.
