The Challenge
Process water carried a high load of fine mineral solids. Relying only on the tailings pond limited water recovery and required a large settling area.
The operator wanted to recover clarified water for reuse in the process and thicken solids ahead of tailings management.
The R+F Solution
R+F supplied high-rate plate settlers with flocculant dosing to aggregate the fine mineral particles. The large projected settling area handled the high flow in a compact steel unit.
Clarified overflow was returned to the process, while thickened underflow was routed to tailings, reducing pond load and improving water recovery.
