The Challenge
Wash-down and process water carried high concentrations of organic solids and fats. The downstream biological stage was being overloaded by the solids peak, reducing overall treatment reliability.
Hygiene requirements meant all wetted surfaces had to be corrosion-resistant and easy to clean, and the unit had to fit within a compact plant area.
The R+F Solution
R+F supplied a compact PSC plate settler in SS 316L, with coagulation/flocculation upstream to capture fine organic solids. Stainless steel construction met hygiene and cleaning requirements.
The plate settler removed the bulk of settleable solids ahead of biological treatment, smoothing the load and improving downstream stability.
