Brewery wastewater contains high concentrations of organic matter (spent grain residues, yeast, hops), suspended solids, and variable pH from CIP cleaning cycles. TSS levels can reach 500–2,000 mg/L.
Plate settlers provide effective primary clarification for brewery wastewater, reducing TSS and organic loading before discharge to the municipal sewer or on-site biological treatment. Chemical coagulation followed by plate settling achieves >90% TSS removal.
